INSTRUMENT PILOT CERTIFICATEFederal Aviation Regulations (FAR) Part 141GENERAL REQUIREMENTS 1) Be at least 17 years of age 2) Be able to read, speak, and understand the English language 3) Obtain at least a current third-class medical certificate 4) Pass a knowledge test as well as the practical test 5) Must have at least a current private pilot certificate with an airplane category rating and a single-engine land class rating
FLIGHT REQUIREMENTS UNDER FAR PART 141 FOR McCLELLAND AVIATION Minimum of 41.5 hours of flight instruction, which must include the following: à 16.5 hours cross country à 33.8 hours instrument flight training (simulated and/or actual) à 2 hours night flying Minimum of 33.9 hours ground instruction Note: Hours above are the minimum set by the Federal Aviation Administration for the Part 141 Instrument Rating Course at McClelland Aviation. Most pilots will require more time to be prepared for the practical test. |
