COMMERCIAL CERTIFICATE w/ INSTRUMENT RATING Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) Part 141 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS 1) Be at least 18 years of age. 2) Be able to read, speak, and understand the English language. 3) Possess at least a current third-class medical certificate. 4) Pass a knowledge test as well as the practical test. 5) Must have at least a current private pilot certificate with an airplane category rating and a single-engine land class rating. 6) Must be concurrently enrolled in the instrument rating course as applicable to the aircraft category rating and pass the required instrument test prior to completion of the commercial course.
FLIGHT REQUIREMENTS UNDER FAR PART 141 FOR McCLELLAND AVIATION Minimum of 190 hours of flight, which must include the following: 1) Minimum of 86 hours flight instruction, which includes: à 23.5 hours cross country à 38 hours instrument flight training (simulated and/or actual) à 9 hours night à 11 hours complex training
2) Minimum of 104 hours solo/PIC flight, which includes: à 53 hours cross country à 5 hours PIC night à 5 hours PIC complex
Minimum of 93.6 hours of ground instruction.
Note: Hours above are the minimum set by the Federal Aviation Administration for the Part 141 Commercial Certificate/Instrument Rating Course at McClelland Aviation. Most pilots will require more time to be prepared for the practical test. |
